Well, it's been a while since I've updated this blog. Combination of being forgetful and busy I think!
All Benny's kittens have gone off to their new homes and are settling in well, with the exception of one - little Socrates, who stayed with us and gained the permanent name of 'Luca' - she is currently enjoying the start of her show career (and doing rather well!) and when she grows up I hope she'll have some babies of her own. She is our first home-bred queen which is really exciting.
Luca has been to three shows as a kitten and done very well, gaining some 1sts which is a great achievement as with TICA you go up against every other kitten in the show so to come 1st out of 40 or 50 kittens is fantastic. She has over 3000 points from these three shows. Her first adult show will be on the 9th and 10th of April in Bristol, she will only be old enough to class as an adult by one week, so she'll be one of the youngest and smallest adults there, competing against fully grown males and females. Hopefully she is pretty enough to keep up with the big boys! As long as she keeps enjoying the days out, we will be going to lots of shows in the coming months. Her mum, Benny, did well during her short show career and I really hope she'll follow in her footsteps.
I'll try and update a bit more often with show news and other goings-on in the Myrkari house!

Benny's Litter - update
Well, Benny's babies are just over 4 weeks old now and doing fine. They are showing a faint interest in solid food but only really as something to play with and stand in - typical! My poor wood floor is covered in footprints every day. The little Siamese girl, Socrates, is still the smallest by a long way, but is definitely the most adventurous and friendly. She follows me around the room making herself heard whenever I am in there. The chocolate boys are getting harder and harder to tell apart at first glance as their weights are nearly identical and of course they are the same colour and type. Once you look closer you can tell who's who as Mozart has smaller ears than Napoleon, but it's tough to tell at first. The red boy, Billy the Kid, and red bicolour girl, Joan of Arc, are very similar in personalities - outgoing and curious on the outside but secretly shy! And of course who can forget Genghis Khan, the big fat choccy bicolour. He is huge compared to his brothers and sisters but is a softie really. When they playfight he flops onto his back and rolls around like a turtle.
Five of the six kittens are available and looking for their new homes. They will be ready to go mid-November. The Siamese girl is under consideration and is not available to be reserved at this time.

About Myrkari
Well, this is the first post on the new blog! If you're here you should already know about Myrkari - but if not, hi! I'm a UK based breeder of Oriental and Siamese cats, specialising mainly in bicolours. I sometimes have kittens available to pet and show homes. I'll be using this blog for kitten diaries for the most part, but also for updates and information.
I currently have two breeding girls- Benny and Molly. Benny is a Chocolate Tortoiseshell Smoke with White Oriental, and Molly is a Chocolate Mackerel Tabby with White Oriental. I also have a male neuter, Rusty, who is a Chocolate Oriental. This blog will more often be about the ladies and their kittens, and my breeding plans, but Rusty will feature as well because he's an integral part of the house and a real character!
